How to do a Speedtest through the Terminal on CentOS

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how you can run a SpeedTest on CentOS through the terminal. To do this, all we need to do is to download the speedtest-cli from github. 

wget https://raw.github.com/sivel/speedtest-cli/master/speedtest_cli.py

Once thats downloaded, we need to make the file executable. 

chmod +x speedtest_cli.py

We are now ready to run the speedtest. 

./speedtest_cli.py

If you would like the ability to share these then you can simply add --share to the command like this

./speedtest_cli.py --share
